Just another Tornado Day...

So it's been two days but I have to tell you everything that has happened...

It all started two days ago, Thursday to be exact. Andy and I decided we wanted to go to the Georgia Aquarium. We woke up a little late and got into a long discussion about age-ism. Mostly the cause and effect of people turning a certain age, whether or not they choose to embody the stereotypes of that age. I think I can generally say that most people have that "ugh, I'm almost thirty," moment, but why does thirty have to be so old. Her example was Jess from the Beaver Bunch (a daily YouTube vlog that discusses lesbian issues). Jess appears to be an early twenty-something, confident in her own skin with a very androgynous/nerds/slightly bike-boho style. It's hard to describe, so Google her already. Anywho, Andy is completely in love with her, with her look and with her confidence in herself. Recently Andy found out that Jess is thirty and it completely threw her for a loop. If this girl could be thirty and pull off a much younger, fresher look, then why can't everyone? Something to ponder, do we live the life we want to live based on the way we feel, or based on some stereotypical age ideal we have created in our head? Feel free to leave your pondering in the comments!

As you can see, lots to update you all on, but since I'm living too, not necessarily tons of time to update. Please forgive my following brain dump, but i'll be back throughout the days to update!

Schlotzsky's

Julia and Andy!

Marietta (sp?)

So we made it to Hotlanta yesterday early afternoon. Andy's Aunt Jill and Uncle Danny graciously welcomed us into their home and then all hell broke loose. You see, Jill has two dogs, Daisy (aka Crazy Daisy) a smaller than Henry lab mix and Aspen (aka where has your ass been?) Great pyrenese. Sorry about the spelling errors, I'm in the car. Any who, once our dogs and their dogs made it to the backyard, Colby was completely rust colored from rolling in the Georgia clay and Henry was clanking teeth with Daisy, making best friends.

So we let the dogs have free range of the backyard, full with sandbox for digging. We spent the day visiting, buy graduation decorations for Julia's boyfriend's room and Andy and I went on a mini shopping spree (30% off at American Eagle!). Yesterday night we went to Suburban Pub for a couple drinks (Coors light and Blue Moon for the future Coloradoans) and wings. It was the tail end of trivia night and we killed the songs from 1999!

Today we've been hanging out with Danny. He introduced us to Robert Shilling, a hilariously raunchy comedian. Now we're on our way to Schlockskies for lunch and then to the Georgia Aquarium. Columbus to visit the Warren's tomorrow :)

FLORIDA

Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, Indian River, Okeechobee.... maybe missing St. Lucie, not sure if that's a county or not, but that's the progress we've made so far.

In related news, Colby has not, I repeat NOT gotten sick...yet!

But where am I going to sit?

So we woke up this morning and packed the rest of the trailer, went to Starbucks for some coffee (non fat, no whip, grande iced white chocolate mocha for me, grande skinny carmel machiato for Andy) and packed the rest of Andy's car. Then we loaded up the dogs before realizing there was no room for me!! As I said yesterday, my car is in the shop so we all have to drive together to go get it. Then I will drive to goodwill to donate a bunch of clothes and shoes and then i'll drive back up to meet Andy. It's kind of a backwards way of doing it but I didn't get to pack my car last night seeing as how it is in the shop. So here we are, Andy driving, colby the car sick puppy in the front passenger seat, Henry and me and the goodwill stuff crammed into the backseat. If you see our crazy caravan feel free to honk and wave...it'll be much welcome to the finger we got this morning! So happy to be leaving the mean people of south Florida behind!

Tomorrow the Adventure Begins...if we ever get there...

Here I sit, or rather lay, on a slightly deflated air mattress, on the cusp of the next big adventure. Today, was my last day at work, my last day with affordable health insurance, and hopefully my last day working in the public sector (at least while I'm in my working prime, I hope). Tomorrow I, we -Andy, Henry, Colby and I start not only our cross-country road trip, but also, a new chapter in our lives.

But as Murphy's law goes, whatever can go wrong will go wrong, and as I sit here in Fort Lauderdale, my car sits alone in Coral Springs. Yep, took it in this morning to get the tire pressure checked and my fluids topped off only for the super nice and thorough mechanic to tell me that The Senator (yes, I named my car after Padme Amidala, post-queenhood) wasn't going to make it. So he's fixing her up and hopefully she'll be ready tomorrow late morning so we can make some progress.

Originally, we were suppose to make it to Atlanta tomorrow to stay with Andy's Aunt Jill & Uncle Danny, but now it's looking more like we'll be driving part way tomorrow and the rest on Wednesday. No worries though, we don't have to be in Colorado until May 31st, at this point I'm more concerned about Mother Nature's torture of the Midwest, primarily Missouri. The article I just read on NPR is haunting my thoughts. Well on that positive note, I'm going to go read. Hoping to document this trip, so stay tuned! Peace, love and laughter!
